Let it come from the interior. Take your weight and divide it in half. That's how many ounces of water you should be drinking every day. For instance: If you weigh 150 lbs., you should drink 75 ounces of water each day. If drinking that much water is overpowering, consider drinking the bulk of it in the morning after you awaken and sipping through out daily. Your entire body and hair adore it.

2. Take a multi-vitamin and eat right.

Take a daily multi-vitamin. Avoid foods that are processed. They are full of preservatives and lab experiments. If it doesn't grow from the earth or come out of a butcher, avoid eating it. Processed foods tend to be high in carbs and low in the nutrients that we want for our bodies to work properly. Here are some daily meal plan guidelines:

4 portions of protein
4 servings of green veggies
4 servings of fruit
3 servings of unprocessed carbohydrates (sweet corn, corn, carrots, etc.)
1 serving of grain or oil (I use 2 tbsp of flax seed meal in my morning supper to cover this)

Just like every living thing needs water to survive, it also needs oxygen. Shampooing your hair frequently cleanses the scalp of residue from sweat and products allowing oxygen in your hair follicles. Should you prefer to wear straightened, make sure you are getting to that scalp with a witch hazel something or swab. Avoid shampoos that dry the hair out cause, remember, dry hair will crack due to damage more frequently than moisturized hair. Make sure that you read the ingredients of your shampoo before your purchase it. Some goods will claim "Sulfate free" on the front but the ingredients comprise a derivative of sulphate within them.

4. Maintain your hair sterile.

Yes. You're drinking half of your body weight in water daily. Now, short natural hair must address the goods. If you are using products that are oil based products or oils, these should only be applied to wet or damp hair. Why? Well, they're made to seal moisture - aka water to hair. When petroleum based products are applied to dry hair, it's only oil sitting on top of dry hair. Water based products have water in them and can be applied to dry hair for a moisturizer. Again, pay attention to the components on products that you're purchasing. Ingredients like mineral oil and petrolatum aren't meant to moisturize and can actually leave your hair feeling more dry than it did before you used it.
